Does Sex Get You A Record Deal

WAMi Festival 2005 LogoImage via Wikipedia Can sex get you a record deal ? We see it everyday women who think that if they show off their body or sleep with someone that they will rise to power. The music industry is a male dominated sport. So, when women get into the music industry, and say they want to rap, sing, or dance etc. their is someone who wants to test your intergrity. Alot of folks do crazy things for fame and fortune that they will even screw(have sex) with folks they really don't care about to get a recording contract.

Sex has been some females go to weapon to get men to give in to their needs. Music Executives some times try new artist to see what type of a person they are, and how far they will go to get fame.

Sleek by 50

Dr Dre, backstage at Pussycat Dolls in Los AngelesImage via Wikipedia I have been laughing at the consumer for quite some time since two of your favorite hip hop artist released their own brand of head phones. Dr. Dre releases his head phone called Beats by Dre. 50 Cent come along and then releases his head phones called Sleek by 50. What's so funny about this is that people are buying the brand of the artist not the head phones. The head phones are not that great in my personal opinion that they are worth between $150-300.00. The consumer who is not savvy in business don't understand that you are being positioned to believe that these head phones are so special that no other head phones can compete.

Record Label Artist Control

Record labels are losing control of a lot of artist today. Artist today are feeling the independent spirit. Record labels have created the 360 deals to combat the lost of record sales. The 360 deal allows the record company to get a percentage of the artist other endorsement royalties. Artist control diminishes when you signed with a record label. A company like American Idol gets control and a percentage of all the money that the artist makes from other endorsement. SAN ANSELMO, CA - NOVEMBER 16: A Beatles song...

In today's music business, many artist are striving for Independence due to the record companies new business called a 360. Artist from the major label to the independent labels are trying to be more in control of the own actions so they can reap the benefits of the money that's being made with their music business career.

T.I. and Paper Trail

If you listen to the radio and watch videos there is not a station that T.I is not on. The Album paper trail is hitting all the charts hard and listeners are buying the album. T.I. has put together a great album which has gave the buying public something to cheer about. Many have been saying hip hop is dead, I say artist just need to make some dam good music and these label executives need to being scared and let some real conversation fly over the air waves and you will see a surge in album sales.

Even with the slow economic condition people have found money to go buy albums T.I., Jasmin Sullivan, and many others have gotten buyers to move on there products. Hip hop must still be alive...

Is Hiphop Dead or Alive!!!!!

Its 2007 and the question still lingers is hiphop dead or alive? You probably have a better answer than me, my name is Cool Water author of the "Cool Water Report" and a rapper myself. The discussion about hiphop has been an on going topic now for quite sometime.Whether you like the lyrics, or the beats does it really matter if Hiphop is dead or alive, as long as one gets to eat off the fruits of its labor? I think that is the real question that has people feeling like there is no love of the culture for hiphop music? Is money the only thing that people care about? You and every other person will have a different opinion about the statement that was just made. What makes ones' style of rap the realest form of music really can only be decided by the consumer, or person buying the music don't you think? The rap game now is a mulitbillion dollar business unlike twenty years ago when cats where just rapping for the love . Do you think it should or shouldn't be about the money? Do you think that some cats have lost there luster for the game, and are not talking about anything of substance?
